What Works for You

Please tell me about sites and programs that your school district is using to improve reading skills. I don't mean Accelerated Reader, with literal questions and answers. I'm looking for programs that develop specific reading strategies. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Technology Creates Focus

It is amazing how technology can maintain student focus. My summer school class of low-achieving third graders can maintain focus for 30 minutes of work on math problems on the computer, and yet last for only about 10 minutes on paper and pencil activities. What's the power?

It is amazing to me how much focus is generated when students are using technology. My summer school students, low-achievers in reading and math, can concentrate non-stop for 30 minutes practicing math problems, when they last for about 10 minutes of paper and pencil work. Amazing.
